Breathwork is an ‘active meditation’, that gives us the opportunity to go within ourselves and discover the truth of who we are.
By saying “yes”, we breathe and relax instead of attempting to shut the breath down to avoid feeling. We locate the stillness in the midst of the storm.
Then the body and mind naturally resume its self healing, reorienting itself towards a healthy balance.
Trauma can be permanently resolved, and the shackles of identification start to fall away.
In this meditation, we use the tools of Conscious Connected Breath and Sound Healing to bring us to higher planes of consciousness, to remember and connect us back to our essential nature, and bring inspiration and clarity into our daily lives.
With the eyes closed and lying on a mat, each person uses their own breath and inner healing intelligence to guide the process.
The breather’s journey is supported in a safe and sacred environment.
No previous experience or training necessary.
We begin by gathering in circle and opening with guided meditation, taking time to get clear on our intentions.
We follow with a brief demo and discussion as to what can be expected during the session. You will then be invited to lay on your mat and encouraged to drop into the Conscious Connected Breathing.
A musical journey is created for our ceremony, beginning with inspiring and tribal music for activating our breath, followed by a nurturing soundscape for relaxation and meditation.
Crystal singing bowls and other sound healing instruments are played throughout the ceremony.
After a period of integration, we offer a meditation of gratitude and close with a sharing circle.
Tea and light snacks will be available after the ceremony.
- This Breathwork practice is not recommended for people with cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, abnormal arrhythmias, advanced or unmanaged diabetes, advanced kidney disease, contagious respiratory disease, and severe psychological disturbances.
- Facilitators should be informed if a person has glaucoma, detached retina, recent injuries or surgeries, low blood pressure or is pregnant.
- This practice may produce changes to the normal physical, mental and psychological bodies which may include, temperature fluctuations, muscular tension, remembering stressful or traumatic unconscious experiences, emotional releases and non-ordinary states of consciousness.
On a Physical level breath is our primary source of energy, detoxification, and connection to Life. A medical study on diaphragmatic breathing showed that deep breathing leads to as much as 15 times the normal amount of toxin elimination in the body.
Deep abdominal breathing also stimulates and refreshes the internal organs through massage and through increased cardiovascular circulation, as well as, creating a well circulating lymphatic system which produces a cellular environment that is considered to be ‘anti-cancer’.
Mental and Emotionally, research has verified what yogis have known about breath for a millennium. Deep breathing changes our attitude, perception, and stress level. It tends to shift our bodymind state toward the positive end of the spectrum of experiences – often to the point of opening into blissful euphoric states.
Spiritually, breath has the potential for us to directly encounter mystical experience, non-ordinary insight and cosmic consciousness. It helps to attune us to Source and to remember our essential nature.
